Wichita's hit SIRIUS/XM show "The Grand Old Time Machine" has gotten too big to air only on Fridays and Saturdays so its been added to Tuesday afternoons at 3 Eastern starting next Tuesday. "The regular show times won't change." says Wichita "There's just been so much hoo-hah since I moved to Friday evening instead of Friday afternoon from the hardcore GOTM listeners who like a little humor at work during the day that the show was added to Tuesday afternoon." If you're an rabid Wichita fan who listens on Fridays at 9pm Eastern or Saturday nights at 12 Eastern, don't panic nothing has changed. (Next Tuesday, the 14th, the show will be on at 3pm Eastern.)

My new time slot at SIRIUS/XM is 9 PM Eastern every Friday and then at 12 on Saturday nights on Channel 14's Bluegrass Junction and Channel 65 for those with SIRIUS recievers. I've been getting loads of calls and emails and some of them weren't the nicest. So that's where I am now.
Today I put a video on my FaceBook page of a famous Bluegrass icon in his living room playing his guitar and singing a tune you may not have heard him perform before. Its from my Blackberry video phone thing but you'll love it anyway. I'm gonna leave it on there until Sunday night. Be friends with me on FaceBook and you can see it. I took it last week.

This is an edited 3 minute version of the 30 minute show and the Cherryholmes family is my guest this week. Wichita Rutherford, The Mayor of Bluegrass, presented the Cherryholmes family with the key to the City of Bluegrass. "They are what Traditional Music and Bluegrass is all about" says the Mayor. "A family that lives together, plays and records music together and tours together. There's nothing like the vocal harmonies of a family in Bluegrass. Just look at The Whites."
When asked what the ceremony meant to the family, Jere Cherryholmes replied "Uh... yeah... It's an honor? I mean, it's really small... but hey, you know... It's an honor I guess?... yeah... It's an honor." Cia Cherryholmes commented "He looks at me funny. And I'm not talking about that haircut and teeth. He just looks at me funny. You know?"
Mother, Sandy Cherryholmes said "Well, we keep the doors locked and everything, but he still drives up and down the street in front of our house a lot."
As of April 1st legendary Bluegrass performer and Traditional American Music Icon and war hero, Bobby Osborne, has been slapped with a $16 million dollar law suit.
Bobby hit the high note in "Ruby" at a world record, non electrically amplified, 190 decibels at a festival last month. The note itself was recorded above the 36,000 Kilo Hertz range which is far beyond human hearing. "It just looked like he was standing there with his mouth open and no sound was coming out." claims Marty Terntworth, the plaintiff in the Osborne case. "And all of the sudden, my ears were bleeding. People were passing out and the next thing I knew I couldn't hear a thing. It was really scary."
Terntworth's attorney, Ken Mottingtonston, said "Mr. Osborne is a phenomenal singer, there's no question about that, however, he used a high note as a weapon. This isn't the first time either. He was parachuted into Iraq at the beginning of the war to sing 'Ruby' at an extremely high pitch and volume to deafen the Iraqi soldiers so they wouldn't hear the American troops shooting and bombing. His code name was 'Bobby Osborne'. That's how we found out it was him."
When asked why he went on to purchase everything Bobby has ever recorded and joined his fan club he said this "Are you kidding me? He's Bobby Osborne! I also got two t-shirts and he autographed my Rocky Top Express hat! He's awesome! He's the greatest Bluegrass singer in the world!"
Terntworth and his attorney do not agree on this point. Terntworth says "His mandolin playing is what makes him great. He's a better mandolin player than singer." His attorney retorted "Oh no you dih-int! He IS, no doubt, one of the best mandolin players in the world but his singing is what made him what he is today!" At that point a slap fight broke out between the two and Terntworth recieved a wedgie from his legal council. Terntworth is now suing his attorney for damages caused by the wedgie as well as for "Not being a real Bluegrasser".
When Mr. Osborne was asked to comment he had this to say "I remember that night. I was going for the 40,000 Kilo Hertz range but I up got a little early that morning and my voice was a bit low. And I guess you didn't hear about what's happened since the suit was filed. I let them both ride on the tour bus for three blocks, signed their t-shirts and they dropped the suit."

The question I get most in emails and phone calls is "So what are the pictures you show the person you are interviewing?" I've never showed them to anybody but the interviewee... until now. And I'll just show you the one they ask most about. For example the one of me and Ralph Stanley. It's fake of course, but it makes them laugh.
Me and the fellas went to this theater that just plays old movies. Here we are watching "Old Yeller" and then we watched "The Godfather".

For some reason I've been getting an enormous amount of email from over there in Japan. They've even been calling me. They rearry rike Brueglass. Especially Doc Watson. Maybe they're just discovering podcasts? Oh well, at least they're getting exposed to our kind of music.
We've had such a big response to the video contest GrooveGrass Recordings has moved the deadline for entries to March 15th to make sure everyone has enough time to send their's in. The videos so far have been great. Keep them coming!
I'm directing a video for the new single from The GrooveGrass Boyz. The song is a Country version of the song "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" which will be on iTunes in about 2 weeks. They're calling the new version "Crank That (Farmer Boy)". There's a contest where people send in a 60 second or less video of themselves doing the Soulja Boy dance, by themselves or in a group or dressed up or whatever, where ever. I'm gonna put the best ones in the video. Here's the details:

I think it's reached it's peak and a lot of people who want to be "friends" are just advertisers and people who have nothing to do with anything but trying to sell something. I'm sure lots of them are great and there are no problems and they're fun. I just decided I don't want to have one anymore.
